Stelarbloom, known for their projects with Lady Gaga, Lana del Rey, Frauscher boats, and Pro-Ject Audio, has brought their unique vision to the world of furniture design. The Voltaire line is a testament to their commitment to clarity, lively design, and the equal importance of function and design. The Voltaire table, the highlight of the collection, is a stunning piece of furniture that also serves as a lighting element.
The Voltaire table is more than just a piece of furniture; it's a lighting sculpture that adds a unique aesthetic to any room. The indirect lighting forms a connection between the table’s individual components, making the heavy natural wood tabletop appear to float above both foot frames. This design creates a light and lifted impression, transforming the table into a work of art.
The creation of the Voltaire table is a meticulous process that respects nature and its resources. The wood used in the table is air-dried slowly for two years, then kiln-dried gently to the ideal wood moisture before manufacturing. The colouration of the wood is achieved through a thermal pressure process that caramelises the wood-inherent sugar, creating earthy, cocoa, and caramel tints. The table is then assembled and glued by hand, with a make span of one week.
The Voltaire table is a product of innovative design and advanced technology. It is designed using AutoCAD and visualised as a 3D model with 3ds Max. The design is then transferred to a CNC machine for shaping and sanding, before being surface finished. The table measures 2900 mm x 1000 mm x 750 mm and can comfortably seat 10 people.
The Voltaire table is a perfect example of how Stelarbloom pushes the boundaries of design. The designer couple's ability to integrate art and function in their designs has resulted in a furniture line that is not only visually stunning but also practical. The Voltaire table is a testament to their creativity and innovation, and a worthy winner of the Golden A' Furniture Design Award.
